Airwalk (Yes, that Airwalk) Brings Argyle to the Ladies for Under $20?!

Given the ever-increasing trend to make shoes more and more limited [and therefore more and more expensive], it is refreshing to see that the folks from Airwalk [a mainstay in the skating scene in the 80's/90's who are experiencing a resurgence in today's nostalgic market] can combine a great shoe with an unbelievably cheap price.

For less than $20, you can put these stylish slip-ons on your feet and be ready for class/work/play. I wish I could remember the last time I paid $20 for shoes...sigh.

Nike Myst Dunk Low

SekureD introduced the Nike Myst Dunk Lows on his blog linked here. These custom Dunks start at the toes with a light purple paint splotched with black paint. The designer added his name in pink paint over the largest black spot to promote the SekureD line to attentive sneaker fans.

I like the progression of the shoe’s color and design elements as you move from the toe to the middle panel. The middle panel is a mural of gray, white and black lines that look like they lept off the canvas of an abstract painting. SekureD switched from light to dark purple for the rear panel as well as the shoe laces to complete the evolution of the Myst Dunk Lows.

SekureD has a pair of the Mysts in size 10US available through his online store right now. These sneakers are listed at $325USD but they are likely to be a hot item among serious fans of customs.

Alife Shell Toe – Fall/Winter 2008 – Red + Grey

Alife Shell Toe - Fall/Winter 2008 - Red - #1

The Fall and Winter Collection from Alife is beginning to hit retailers. This version of the Alife Shell Toe comes in red and grey suede. These shoes feature a white leather Alife patch on the tongue and heels, along with white laces and midsoles.

I like the red version a lot. Though it’s bold – it’s not too overpowering. Each pair of shoes comes with three sets of laces. You can order these now right now at Haven for $110. Via Hypebeast.

Project C4 Nike Dunks

Chris Hui and imag4ever collaborated in the past on a design project called Project C4. This project featured a set of custom Nike Dunk Lows that showcased the considerable talents of both designers. C2 Customs and imag4ever have returned with the second edition of Project C4 involving two pairs of Nike Dunk Highs.

This first entry in the revived Project C4 is a Nike Dunk High with a toe box and middle panel made from crocodile leather. Chris Hui reconceived the C4 logo so that the top part of the logo looks like the fuse on a stick of dynamite. I enjoy the mixture of camo prints, red leather and black and think that this collaboration will continue to impress sneaker fans in the future.

Fans of C2 Customs, image4ever and the Project C4 Dunks can check out additional information on these sneakers by checking out their recent Nike Talk post linked here.

Spring Court Fall 2008 Line-Up

Spring Court Fall 2008 Line-Up - #1

With a history dating back to 1936, the Spring Court shoes have been around for a long time. Originally, the shoes were made to give tennis players an advantage on the tennis court. Today, the Spring Court shoes continue their old school look while adding some modern technology and materials.

In this Fall 2008 lineup, you can see a number of different colorways and styles. However, the one thing all the shoes have in common is their simple look. None of the shoes are showy with primarily solid colorways. If you want more looks at theses shoes and find out where to shop, visit the Spring Court website. Via High Snobiety.

Puma Clyde Tommie Smith Gold List

Puma Clyde Tommie Smith Gold List - #1

Continuing with more Olympic-inspired shoes, Puma honors Tommie Smith with these gold Puma Clydes. Smith’s 200m dash record is on the tongue and metallic gold medals are embossed throughout the shoe.

Two sets of laces are included with “1968″ appearing on the tips. Smith won the gold medal in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. On the podium, the newly crowned Smith (along with Bronze medalist John Carlos) raised his fist in the air, which set off a firestorm of controversy. The barefoot athletes’ black power salute was meant to represent black poverty. The two were booed by the crowd and the Olympic committee thought politics had no place in the Games. Smith and Carlos were stripped of their medals and banned from the Olympic village. This led to many protests in the U.S. and Smith and Carlos were never given back their medals. Gucci-esque Nike Air Force Ones

Ups-N-Comin has released a new pair of custom Nike Air Force Ones called “Gucci-esque” at the Nike Talk post linked here. The designer feels that custom sneaker artists should be able to transform sneakers into high-end products before they can advance to bigger challenges. The “Gucci-esque” idea has been done by other artists in the past but Ups-N-Comin brings his own flavor to these shoes.

The original Air Force One used by Ups-N-Comin featured a tan/white/blue colorway that is neutral enough for most sneaker fans. Ups-N-Comin added sophisticated touches like golden swooshes and a metal “Ups-N-Comin” tag that would not be out of place on a pair of Gucci sneakers.

I am a fan of the color changes employed by the designer on the “Gucci-esque” Air Force Ones. He switched out the tan for white and the off-white for blue to create a fantastic shoe that would look great in any situation. The design, finishing and overall execution of these Air Force Ones proves that the veteran Ups-N-Comin is at the pinnacle of his ability.

Greedy Genius x Bun B

Greedy Genius Cool Breeze Vaders Designed by Bun B - #1

The highly anticipated Cool Breeze Vaders from Greedy Genius are set to be released in Mid September. These shoes were designed by hip hop artist Bun B as a tribute to Pimp C, who died in a Los Angeles hotel room a couple days after a performance last December.

Pimp C apparently died from an accidental overdose of Promethazine/Codeine “syrup” along with a pre-existing medical condition, sleep apnea. Apnea causes breathing to stop during sleep. An overdose of syrup also allegedly caused the death of rap producer DJ Screw.

These slick shoes feature a black leather upper trimmed with silver/grey accents. The tribute to Pimp C is evidenced with the RIP Pimp C keychain included. Look for more details about these sneakers from Greedy Genius in upcoming weeks.
